A site for the only known Roman circus in Britain was identified in 2005. 7. Take a Walk at the Fingringhoe Wick Nature Discovery Park

Burn off some energy at the Fingringhoe Wick Nature Discovery Park, a SSSI (Site Special Scientific Interest) attraction spanning 200 acres. Home to 200 species of birds, 27 species of dragonflies and damselflies, and 24 species of butterflies, this is a top spot for nature lovers.

8. Visit Lexden Springs Nature Reserve

Another exciting place to visit in Colchester is the Lexden Springs Local Nature Reserve known locally as The Loop. With wildflowers and plenty of wildlife, this is a popular walking and cycling route home to a pond formed from a natural spring.
