6 POPULAR DINOSAUR CARTOON CHARACTERS

Kids love dinosaurs. So it’s no surprise that they’re in movies, storybooks, TV shows and even theatre productions. Indeed, Dinosaur World Live is one of the best things to do in Sheffield this April, so why not take your little ones to enjoy thrilling dino-themed puppetry live on stage? To get you in the mood for some roar-some fun, here are six popular dinosaur cartoon characters.

#1 Yoshi

As Mario’s much-loved pet in the Nintendo gaming franchise, Yoshi is a green dinosaur well known for his long tongue, his ability to lay eggs and his special move called a ‘flutter jump,’ which sees him jump in the air and kick to stay afloat. He’s also one of the four main characters of the Super Mario World cartoon, befriending Mario, Luigi, Princess Toadstool and Oogtar in Dinosaur Land.

#2 Reptar

Rugrats is one of the most popular cartoons on Nickelodeon, with Reptar the T-rex being among the most memorable characters. Green in colour with blue spikes on his back, he looks a lot like Godzilla and is idolised by many of the show’s children, including Tommy Pickles and his friends. As well as appearing in the series and movies, Reptar is also a playable character in many games including Nickelodeon Kart Racers and Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl.

#3 Dino Flintstone

What’s not to love about Dino Flintstone, an adorable dogosaurus and the pet of the Flintstone family? Loyal, protective, playful and friendly, Dino Flintstone acts just like a dog and is always showing his affection to Fred by pouncing on him. He’s got purple skin, black spots and three black hairs on his head. He also wears a blue dog collar with an orange tag.

#4 Rex

Rex is a much-loved character from the Toy Story franchise. He might look like the most fearsome dinosaur in the toy box, but this tyrannosaurus is actually one of the most loveable of Andy’s toys. Despite his endless worries and anxieties about his small roar, Rex always comes through for his friends and is the most loyal companion anyone could have.

#5 Littlefoot

Littlefoot from The Land Before Time is a modest, intelligent, playful and adventurous ‘longneck’ dinosaur who loves an adventure. He’s most often seen singing the song Adventuring in the television series and in the first movie, and always holds onto his favourite food, a ‘treestar’ leaf, which was given to him by his mother. The dino crew also consists of Cera, Petrie, Ducky and Spike.

#6 Super Dinosaur

Streaming on Amazon Prime, Super Dinosaur tells the story of Derek Dynamo, a 10-year-old genius, and his best friend Super Dinosaur, a genetically engineered, hyper intelligent T-rex who loves video games. Together, they must fight crime and protect Inner-Earth from Max Maximus.
