DID YOU KNOW?
In Utah, dinosaur footprints (thought to be over 200 million years old) are being thrown into a lake by unsuspecting tourists!
Visitors to Red Fleet State Park are picking up stone slabs with the precious raptor prints and throwing them into the 750-acre reservoir onsite.
According to the park manager, Josh Hansen, at least ten sandstone slabs, sometimes measuring up to 17 inches long, have gone missing from the Park in the last six months.
“It’s become quite a big problem,” said park manager Josh Hansen. “They’re just looking to throw rocks off the side. What they don’t realise is these rocks they’re picking up, they’re covered in dinosaur tracks.”
The Park are adding signs around the area, and are thinking of hiring a specialist diving team to retrieve the rocks before the prints are eroded by the water.
“To help combat it, we are asking everyone to spread the word. Please, do not throw any rocks in the dinosaur track area at Red Fleet State Park.
“Help us keep the area preserved and beautiful for visitors both tomorrow and for generations to come.”
